As a teaching assistant, have you struggled to answer questions about generative AI and how such tools may or may not comply with course policies? When marking written assignments, have you wondered if AI tools have been used and if so, what should you do?
In this two-hour workshop hosted by Dr. Marvin Lam and the Health Sciences Writing Centre, we will explore how to address these concerns and build a community of practice. This targeted workshop is designed to equip TAs with practical strategies for addressing AI-related challenges. Participants will collaborate to critically analyze sample texts (both AI-generated and student-written) to think more clearly about both the product and the process of writing. Participants will develop concrete strategies for how to navigate course policy discussions with students and how to leverage opportunities AI may offer for effective TA practice.
Registration is open to all graduate students in the health sciences, and can be completed using this form.
